Office 365 is constantly evolving, so it’s not at all surprising when Microsoft looks to enhance channel partner business opportunities through a new premium enterprise plan. During the July 2015 Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Orlando, we received news that the old E4 plan was being replaced by a new premium Office 365 enterprise suite called E5, which will be available before the end of the calendar year.
According to Microsoft, the new plan will build upon features already existing in Office 365, including Skype for Business Services, real-time communication in Cloud PBX, and PTSN conferencing. Additionally, end-users will enjoy data analytics and advanced security features such as Power BI Pro, Delve Organizational Analytics, eDiscovery, Customer Lockbox, Data Loss Protection, and Safe Attachments.
So what does the E5 plan actually mean?
The bottom line is that E5 is Microsoft’s top-of-the-range Office 365 plan that includes literally every piece of functionality available in the service, including some features that have been around for a while, some that are brand new, and some that are not yet available. The E5 suite will provide a significant new opportunity for partners to build new service offerings around real-time communication and analytics, and Advanced Threat Protection which guards against unknown malware and viruses. The E5 suite will provide a significant new opportunity for partners to build new service offerings around real-time communication and analytics, and to reach new customers with important new security features.
